[Intro – Spoken Word, deep and ancient] Before the kings wore crowns... Before the stories had a name... There lived a spider in the shadows, Who carried the wisdom of the ages. They called him Anansi. But every gift has a price... And every trick has a consequence. [SFX: Thunder, jungle ambience, soft Nyabinghi drums] [Verse 1 – Soulful, restrained] Deep inna the forest where the moonlight hide, A little spider walk with the stars by his side. No sword inna his hand, no gold pon his chest, But a mind full of stories and a heart put to test. The lion had strength like a mountain so high, The elephant thundered beneath the wide sky. But Anansi looked up and he whispered one day, "Wisdom is the weapon that can conquer the brave." High in the heavens, the stories were kept, By Nyame, the god who the wisdom had swept. "I'll bring them to the people, whatever the cost, Even if the journey leaves me broken and lost." [Pre-Chorus – Rising emotion] Oh, little spider, climbing toward the sun, With eight tiny legs and a battle to be won. The road is long, and the mountain is steep, But the stories of the people are yours to keep. [Chorus – Powerful, anthemic] ANANSI! OH, ANANSI! Weaving your web through the fire and rain! ANANSI! OH, ANANSI! Carrying the wisdom, carrying the pain! From the darkness to the light, Through the struggle, through the night, Every thread tells a story, Every scar reveals your glory! ANANSI! OH, ANANSI! The spider who could never be chained! [Backing Vocals – Call and response] Who carry the story? ANANSI! Who walk through the fire? ANANSI! Who teach the people? ANANSI! [Verse 2 – Rhythmic storytelling] Nyame said, "Bring me four creatures of the land, Then maybe I'll consider the wisdom in your hand." Leopard was fierce, with fire in his eye, Hornet had a sting that could make warriors cry. Python was mighty, with a body like a chain, And the fairy danced wildly through the rain. Anansi had no army, no spear, and no throne, Just a web of ideas and a mind of his own. He studied the creatures, he watched and he planned, And conquered the challenge with a trickster's hand. Not through violence, not through the blade, But through patience and the bargains he made. He returned to the heavens, his promise fulfilled, And the stories came down from the mountain and hill. [Chorus – Full band] ANANSI! OH, ANANSI! Weaving your web through the fire and rain! ANANSI! OH, ANANSI! Carrying the wisdom, carrying the pain! [Verse 3 – Dark, emotional] But Anansi grew proud of the tales he had won, And gathered the stories beneath the hot sun. "All this wisdom belongs to me!" He climbed up a tree with his treasure so free. He tied up the stories in a bundle so tight, But the weight of his pride made the burden too light. He struggled and stumbled, unable to climb, While the bundle kept falling time after time. His son looked up from the ground below, And asked, "Father, why you carrying it so?" Anansi grew angry, his pride took control. "How could my own son teach me wisdom I hold?" He threw down the bundle, and the stories took flight, Like birds escaping into the heat of the night. They scattered through the world, through valley and plain, Into every heart, through the joy and the pain. [Bridge – Soft piano, strings] And Anansi sat beneath the old tree, With the weight of his pride finally set free. He whispered, "Wisdom was never mine alone... It belongs to the people... It belongs to the unknown." [Emotional Build – Layered harmonies] From mother to daughter, From father to son, The stories kept living, The journey went on. Through chains and sorrow, Through oceans and tears, The spider's old stories Outlasted the years. [Final Chorus – Epic cinematic climax] ANANSI! OH, ANANSI! Your web still stretches across every land! ANANSI! OH, ANANSI! Your stories still live in the people's hands! You were clever, you were proud, But your greatest gift was knowing That the truth belongs to all! ANANSI! OH, ANANSI! The spider who gave the world its soul! [Choir – Powerful call and response] Tell the story! Tell it loud! Tell the story! Make us proud! Tell the story! Let it rise! ANANSI'S WISDOM NEVER DIES! [Outro – Soft, fading vocals] When you see a spider spinning silver in the rain, Remember every thread carries joy and pain. No king can hold the wisdom... No chain can stop the song... The stories belong to everyone... And they'll carry us along. [Spoken Word – Whispered] The spider may be small... But the story is eternal. [SFX: Fading Nyabinghi drums, jungle wind] [END]
