The crowd all applaud It was a good act I watched it all backstage I saw the mirrors all cracked When the curtain came down You showed all the strings I saw the real person Behind all the tricks You said "a Magician never tells All their secrets to all" I knew that it meant No more tickets to your show [CHORUS] When you're up on your stage Looking into full seats Your costume is on Smoke and mirrors repeat I see behind the curtain As the crowd cheer your show I know who you really are When the spotlight is gone The lights all came on The smoke cleared the stage Up the audience stood They believed your charade I used to love all the magic Why don't I still? I wonder when I started To see beyond all the thrill Magic is magic Tricks are still fun While everyone enjoys I saw the Magician without the wand [CHORUS] When you're up on your stage Looking into full seats Your costume is on Smoke and mirrors repeat I see behind the curtain As the crowd cheer your show I know who you really are When the spotlight is gone When the smoke clears The Magician will bow The tricks put away After the show Where do you go Who do you become When the costume And stage are both gone? When you're up on your stage Looking into full seats Your costume is on Smoke and mirrors repeat I see behind the curtain As the crowd cheer your show I know who you really are When the spotlight is gone Would i still have excitement To see the tricks you now play Looking at am empty theatre I dont miss all your display!
