Recurring nightmares, foreboding dreams, The road ahead holds more than it seems. Shaped by life, sudden twists and sharp turns, I bear the scars of losses and burns. I've broken bread with many a friend, But lost their cold trail around the bend. Time, like the long road, quickens its pace, Leaves them scattered, nearly all erased. Now trudging at a much slower pace, Just a shadow of my former grace. Yet my body lags, my spirit flies To brighter days underneath blue skies. Oh, the glorious battles I've won-And dance so freely beneath the sun. And though the years have taken their toll, They have left their mark upon my soul. For not everything can time erase.
