Rats Inherit Earth (a protest)

+ Show full styles

Concrete walls, miles deep below the crust Fat cats hiding from the radioactive dust They type the codes with a manic, grinning face While sending eighteen-year-old boys to colonize the grave For what? For a border in the dirt! Their own sweet children never feel the kinetic hurt Safe in the luxury silo, counting down the clock The blast waves rip, the surface turns to ash But inside the bunker, they are sipping on their cash If the world goes dark and the sky begins to bleed These subterranean rats will be the future human seed The heirs of the wasteland, the monsters of tomorrow Born from the architects of universal sorrow Our planet’s final legacy, a subterranean joke! Screaming at the sky, but the sky is turning red! Dancing on the graves of the teenage dead! The sirens wail, the synths collide Nowhere left for the world to hide! And the cosmic watchers look down from the stars No wonder they never want to visit Mars or ours! Who would speak to a species so insane? We elected the butchers! We welcomed the pain! We signed the papers, we marched in the line We let these madmen distort the divine! We do nothing! We just sit and watch! Unbelievable apathy! The ultimate botch! Look in the mirror, who is truly insane? The lunatic pushing the button of pain? Or the billions of casualties standing in a row Who voted for the circus and allowed the horror show? We gave them the keys, we built them the throne Now we reap the fallout completely alone The bunkers are sealed, the rockets are high A symphonic nightmare consumes the whole sky The kings are underground, the peasant boys bleed Driven by a sociopathic, nuclear greed The rats inherit the Earth! The end of the track! No turning back!
