[Intro – solitary felt piano, distant wind, soft reversed voices] I heard the branches calling From somewhere underneath The silver leaves were turning Like mirrors in the breeze [Verse 1 – intimate, breathy vocal, almost no percussion] Bare feet against the shadows Cold earth beneath my skin The pathway disappeared But something pulled me in The moon was caught in pieces Between the tallest trees And every root was moving Like veins beneath my feet [Pre-Chorus – low pulse enters, harmony slowly widening] I felt the night behind me I felt it drawing near But when the forest opened I wasn’t running from fear [Chorus – soaring vocal, full cinematic synth expansion] I run where the forest breathes Branches opening over me All of the darkness turns green Where the forest breathes I run where the wild light grows Following wherever it goes Far from the world that I know Where the forest breathes [Post-Chorus – wordless layered female vocals] Ooh, carry me deeper Ooh, carry me through [Verse 2 – pulsing bass, glassy arpeggio, restrained drums] White moths rose like embers And circled through the air The trees leaned down around me As though they knew I was there A river made of starlight Was shining through the moss I followed every shimmer Not caring what was lost [Pre-Chorus – stronger drums, rising synth tension] I heard the hills awaken I heard them speak my name The farther that I wandered The less I stayed the same [Chorus – larger drums, stacked harmonies] I run where the forest breathes Branches opening over me All of the darkness turns green Where the forest breathes I run where the wild light grows Following wherever it goes Far from the world that I know Where the forest breathes [Bridge – drums fall away, suspended piano and choir] Maybe I was dreaming Maybe I disappeared Maybe all the magic Was always waiting here The roots wrapped softly around me The leaves covered the sky And for a single moment I learned that I could fly [Final Chorus – immense synth waves, soaring sustained notes] I run where the forest breathes Stars falling down through the trees All that I was falls away Where the forest breathes I run where the wild light grows No destination, no road Only the earth and my soul Where the forest breathes [Outro – extended instrumental release, fading choir and piano] Ooh, carry me deeper Ooh, carry me through Where the forest breathes Where the forest breathes
