[Verse] Step into the shadow of a brighter flame Leave behind the echoes of your fleeting name A weight on your shoulder leads to freedom's cries In the surrender of self is where love never dies [Chorus] Carry your cross take it day by day Let it cut through the night lead the narrow way Lose what you cling to, to gain what you seek For it's in surrender that the bold grow meek [Verse 2] The world may whisper that your fight's in vain But glory lies beyond our earthly pain Your deepest loss holds a hidden key What binds you here only blinds you to be free [Chorus] Carry your cross take it day by day Let it cut through the night lead the narrow way Lose what you cling to, to gain what you seek For it's in surrender that the bold grow meek [Bridge] A kingdom's call carved in sacrifice On a sacred road marked by one great price Yet God's light will dawn on your weary soul When the choice is made to let it all go [Chorus] Carry your cross take it day by day Let it cut through the night lead the narrow way Lose what you cling to, to gain what you seek For it's in surrender that the bold grow meek
