The Rider | Monster Mashup Challenge | The Soundry
✍🏻 LYRICS & COMPOSITION BY EME LATINA (2025) ------------------- CHALLENGE: ------------------- For this Soundry Halloween challenge, we had to work from the mad scientist’s table—assembling our own creation from a pile of mismatched musical body parts. The task: choose one set of styles from the list and bring it to life. Our creature’s identity—its mood, genre, and story—was ours to define. What mattered was that it felt alive… and a little bit wrong. I chose: Halloween + dance rock | j-core maloya [#17] ------------------- LYRICS: ------------------- [Intro] "There’s a road where the fog bends, Look closely—it never ends." [Verse 1] They say he rides for what he lost, Through the fields where the rivers cross, He doesn’t stop to count the cost Just rides through forest floor and frost [Pre-Chorus] He just rides with the wind, perpetual stride You hear the sound of hooves far and wide [Chorus] He’s still riding, riding on, Through the dawn Brain and brawn Done some wrongs, Got the songs. If you see his eyes (where none should be—) Don’t run, don’t run— He’s not looking for you, you see only looking for what he used to be... [Drop] [Verse 2] There’s a tavern by the willows, food and rye, Where the brave drink up... and the fools die You may toast his name but you should never try To walk the hills where he rides by... [Verse 3] He had a love once—soft and fierce, Her ribbon remains tied to his spear... They say he lost his head for her (He lost his heart...) [Chorus] He’s still riding, riding on, Through the dawn Brain and brawn Done some wrongs, Got the songs. If you see his eyes (where none should be—) Don’t run, don’t run— He’s not looking for you, you see Searching for what he used to be... [Chorus] He’s still riding, riding on, Through the dawn Brain and brawn Done some wrongs, Got the songs. If you see his eyes (where none should be—) Don’t run, don’t run— He’s not looking for you, you see only looking for what used to be... [Interlude] [Bridge] Maybe we’re all riding again— Heading headless in our destinations Looking for the parts we've lost, Haunted by the same old cost... It gets harder and harder to escape our ghost. [Final Chorus] He’s still riding, riding on, Through the dawn (that never comes) Righting wrongs, Inspiring songs. So, if you hear his name in the wind tonight— Hold on, hold on tight— Maybe it’s your own soul calling for a light. [Outro] 'The fog fades, the hoofbeats slow... But no one ever really knows... He’s out there still, And so we go — Riding, Riding, Riding on. Riding, Riding, Riding on.
