Verse 1 Down by the hill where the green grass grows, Lives a little wren with a freckled nose. The brook goes tiddle-dee, the sky says blue, And the morning laughs as the daylight grew. Refrain Oh dance, dance, little rowan tree, Shake your leaves so merrily! Round and round, come sing with me, Hey-ho, the world is free! Verse 2 Sheep in the meadow go baaa and baa, The sun peeks out with a golden “ah!” Pockets full of wishes, shoes full of mud, Hearts beat fast like a playful drum. Refrain Oh dance, dance, little rowan tree, Shake your leaves so merrily! Round and round, come sing with me, Hey-ho, the world is free! Bridge (call & response – ideal for kids) Who made the wind? — Nobody knows! Who taught the river where to go? — It just goes! Who says laughter must be small? — Not at all! Verse 3 When the moon comes out with her silver shoe, We’ll hum the tune that the day once knew. Hand in hand till the stars say “sleep”, Songs are treasures the heart can keep. Final Refrain (slightly faster) Oh dance, dance, little rowan tree, Shake your leaves so merrily! Round and round, come sing with me, Hey-ho, the world is free! Hey-ho, the world is free!
