RADIO STATION 11:11 S2E 4: “The Station Is Awake”

[INTRO - ELECTRICAL HUM, DISTANT RADIO STATIC] [Light flickers] [Relay clicks] VOICE: Can you hear that? [Low heartbeat] VOICE: It’s breathing. [HEAVY GUITAR RIFF] [VERSE 1] The hallway wasn’t here this morning Now there’s a staircase underneath the floor Every door keeps changing numbers And there’s a shadow standing by the door The clocks are running in different directions Some say midnight, some say yesterday I tried to leave through the front entrance But the hallway brought me back again [PRE-CHORUS] Something’s moving in the walls Something knows my name Every speaker in the building Just whispered it the same I hear the wires humming Like a heartbeat in the dark And somewhere underneath the station Something finally starts [CHORUS] The station is awake The station knows my name It’s opening the doors And rearranging time again The station is awake I can feel it in the floor Every time I try to leave It gives me one more door The station is awake And it remembers me [POST-CHORUS] Hey! Can you hear it? Hey! It’s breathing! 11:11! [VERSE 2] The radio started playing conversations From rooms that haven’t been built yet I heard myself say, “I forgive you” To someone I haven’t even met Then the lights turned red behind me And the old transmitter came alive Every frequency was screaming “You’re too early to arrive” I found the woman in the photograph Standing underneath the clock She looked terrified for the first time And said: WOMAN: “You have to make it stop.” [PRE-CHORUS] I said, “You built the station.” She said, “I know.” I said, “Then shut it down.” She said: WOMAN: “I don’t control it anymore.” [CHORUS] The station is awake The station knows my name It’s opening the doors And rearranging time again The station is awake I can feel it in the floor Every time I try to leave It gives me one more door The station is awake And it remembers me [BRIDGE - GUITARS DROP TO LOW PULSE] [Whispered voices surround the stereo field] VOICE 1: Don’t run. VOICE 2: It can hear you. VOICE 3: Don’t speak. VOICE 4: It remembers everything. [Woman] WOMAN: Listen to me. [Music nearly stops] WOMAN: The station doesn’t want you. MALE: Then what does it want? WOMAN: It wants what you remember. MALE: Why? WOMAN: Because memories are how it stays alive. [Silence] MALE: Then what happens if I forget? [Long pause] WOMAN: It forgets you. [Heavy guitar crash] [FINAL CHORUS] The station is awake And now I know the game It feeds on every memory Until there’s nothing left to name The station is awake And it’s calling from below Every song we’ve ever heard Is something that it knows The station is awake And the walls are closing in [FINAL REFRAIN] 11:11! It’s breathing! 11:11! It’s listening! 11:11! It’s remembering! [INSTRUMENTAL CLIMAX] [Distorted guitar] [Electronic pulse] [Radio static] [Clock ticking] [OUTRO] MALE: How do we stop it? WOMAN: You don’t. MALE: Then what do we do? WOMAN: We teach it something it can’t remember. MALE: What’s that? [Pause] WOMAN: Tomorrow. [Static] CHILD: Too late. [Silence] CHILD: It already knows. [LOUD GUITAR + STATIC] [END]
