Death Nesting - The Hollow Hands of Mercy

I seen the saints with their tongues of stone, Preachin’ of heaven I’ll never know. They talk of light and endless grace, But I’ve only met mercy with an empty face. I’ve dug more graves than I can name, Each one a prayer said in vain. “Lord take this soul, let the body sleep,” But mercy don’t come, it just watches me break. The hollow hands of mercy, cold and still, Holdin’ nothin’ but the weight I feel. I’ve begged the sky, I’ve bled the prayer, But mercy ain’t nothin’… just dirt covering the dead. There’s blood on the altar, dust on the wine, The choir hums low like a broken line. The living kneel, the dead just lay, And mercy turns its eyes away. The hollow hands of mercy, cold and still, Holdin’ nothin’ but the weight I feel. I’ve begged the sky, I’ve bled the prayer, But mercy ain’t nothin’… just dirt covering the dead. I’ve buried more faith than I’ve ever kept, And mercy never once fucking wept. I begged for peace, but the skies don’t speak, Only the worms and the roots beneath comfort me. So I work the soil, I keep the gate, Faith’s just a word for what I can’t create. And when my time comes, I hope they see, Mercy’s hollow hands finally close on me. The hollow hands of mercy, cold and still, Holdin’ nothin’ but the weight I feel. I’ve begged the sky, I’ve bled the prayer, But mercy ain’t nothin’… just dirt covering the dead. Let the holy talk, I’ll take the grave, Mercy’s a lie the dead can’t save.
