“Mount of Farewell”

(Gothic Rock Requiem – Deuteronomy) Verse 1: I stand upon the mountain’s crown, The promised land lies far below. A thousand laws have worn me down, My shadow’s long, the winds still blow. My eyes behold what I cannot claim, My voice is dust that bears no name. The children march where I may not tread, Their faith alive — my fire dead. Chorus: Mount of farewell, under dying sun, The journey ends where it begun. A prophet’s heart, a broken vow, The desert sleeps — I whisper now. Mount of farewell, my bones shall stay, Where heaven fades to shades of gray. Verse 2: I spoke with thunder, I walked with flame, But all my power could not remain. The tablets shattered, the river cried, And all I loved was crucified. The people sing, but not for me, Their eyes on lands I’ll never see. The hand of God has drawn the line, Between the mortal and divine. Chorus: Mount of farewell, under dying sun, The journey ends where it begun. A prophet’s heart, a broken vow, The desert sleeps — I whisper now. Mount of farewell, my bones shall stay, Where heaven fades to shades of gray. Bridge: Oh Sinai burns in memory’s flame, But I no longer call His name. The promised dawn, forever near, Yet just beyond — the veil of fear. Final Chorus: Mount of farewell, I lay me down, No golden crown, no trumpet sound. Only wind and sand remain, To speak my truth — through endless pain. Outro (spoken, fading): "Remember the law, remember the scars... For even prophets are bound by stars."
