The Little Kettle (Symphony of Steam) - Synthical
[Intro: 8 Bars. A low, ominous Synth drone fades in. Deep, slow Cello bows create a sense of dread. A Grand Piano strikes a lonely, minor chord. The sound of wind—or steam—hissing softly.] [Verse 1] [Vocals: Deep, grave, slow storytelling pace] The master is out and the missus is gone The kettle is standing the coal stove upon The family left, there is no one about And it whistles and whistles and whistles... [Saxophone: A long, piercing high note that bends downwards] TOOOOT... [Verse 2] [Tempo picks up slightly. Cellos start a nervous, chugging rhythm. Synth bass pulses] The pot with the endive says: Shame, oh shame! Stop with that noise, it is really too lame Be silent at last, gives us some relief You sound just like a steam locomotive chief! [Interlude] [Violins swell up in a dissonant crescendo. The Saxophone plays a frantic, bubbling run] [Verse 3] [Vocals: More agitated, almost angry on behalf of the pan] The dignified skillet with gravy and steak Says: Goodness gracious, for heaven's sake! I can't simmer here in this noise anymore I simmer with pleasure no more like before! [Chorus / The Lament] [Music explodes - Full Orchestra and heavy Synth Drums. Epic and tragic] [Vocals: Powerful, booming, full of despair] The kettle is wailing: I cannot subside! It comes from my cap! It is due to my lid! I have to keep whistling as long as I boil And I simply can't help all this trouble and toil! [Saxophone Solo] [Saxophone Feature: 16 Bars. The Sax represents the screaming kettle. It hits altissimo notes, screeching and wailing over a wall of orchestral sound. It is beautiful but painful.] [Verse 4] [Music drops to just the low Piano and the Synth Drone. Very atmospheric] [Vocals: Quiet, ominous whisper] The master and missus are still not back home The kettle is standing on coals all alone It whistles and whistles and whistles about... [Outro] [The Strings play a final, unresolved chord. The Saxophone holds one last long, breathy note] We really can't take it... We're wearing out... [Spoken directly to the listener] ...Can you? [Final sharp cut to silence]
