by: Angarn Dunharp date: The Year of the Sword and Stars (1332 DR) source: Elminster: The Making of a Make A star rushes past, to crash upon the shore But the first of many, many more Stoke the fire and stout bar the door For this is the night mages go to war. The skies ignite with their furious might, No shield can guard from their arcane blight, Hide when you hear the strange words they recite, For this is the night mages join the fight. [Chorus] When Mages Go To War! The earth will quake, as their voices command, Fires burst forth with a flick of their hand. They’ll make you obey their every demand, For this is the night mages take a stand. Their fingers weave patterns through old mystic signs, Binding our fate to their arcane designs. The very stars shake when their power combines, For this is the night mages form the lines. [Chorus] When Mages Go To War! With wands aloft, they cast their foul charms, Thunder and ice, and other cruel harms. Shutter the windows when you hear the alarms, For this is the night mages take up arms. Let mortals flee as magic missiles soar. They’ll make you betray the oaths that you swore. You’ll witness fury you’ve not seen before, For this is the night mages go to war. [Chorus] When Mages Go To War!
