Follow The Latern (A Tribute)

🕯For Bray Wyatt 🕯 May 23, 1987 — August 24, 2023 🕯 The lantern still burns in the dark. 🕯 ---------------------------------------------------------- A thank you to @GALINA V for the beautiful picture thank you from the bottom of my heart. ---------------------------------------------------------- [Intro – haunting ambience + distorted static] (distorted radio static) (deep bass drone) (reversed whispers echoing softly) (distant thunder rolling) (old wood creaking) (FEMALE – distant whisper) Don’t be afraid… (long echo fades) (static crackles) (FEMALE – whisper, closer) Just follow the lantern… (low ambient swell rises slowly) (soft piano enters) [Verse 1] (FEMALE) Down where the willow bends low Past the fields we used to know I still hear your weary soul Calling through the cold The night grew heavier with pain But you kept dancing in the rain Like every scar you tried to hide Was something holy deep inside [Pre-Chorus] (FEMALE) They called you lost But I knew your name Even the dark Could not tame the flame [Chorus] (FEMALE) Follow the lantern through the trees Lay your burden down with me Every ghost you carried home Doesn’t have to walk alone Follow the fire through the night There’s still mercy in the light And when the cold world pulls you under I will hold your soul together [Verse 2] (FEMALE) The old church trembled in the storm Broken hearts and twisted psalms Still your shadow filled the room Like thunder before doom But every child who feared the dark Found a home inside your heart Even lost men trying to run Still reached toward your fading sun [Pre-Chorus] (FEMALE) They called you strange But heaven knows The deepest love Is the hardest road [Chorus – bigger] (FEMALE) Follow the lantern through the trees Lay your burden down with me Every ghost you carried home Doesn’t have to walk alone Follow the fire through the night There’s still mercy in the light And when the cold world pulls you under I will hold your soul together [Bridge – emotional rise] (FEMALE) Some souls burn brighter when they break Some hearts give more than they can take You were never meant to disappear The fire still lingers here (FEMALE – softer) And every voice you left behind Still carries through the pines [Final Chorus – full emotional climax] (FEMALE) Follow the lantern through the trees You are finally free to breathe Every wound and every scar Made you into who you are Follow the fire through the night You still shine beyond the light And somewhere past the fields of sorrow Your voice still leads us through tomorrow [Outro – fading piano + static] (soft thunder in distance) (violin slowly fading) (static returns quietly) (FEMALE – whisper) Don’t be afraid… (long pause) (FEMALE – fading whisper) The lantern’s still burning… (static dissolves into silence)
