There's a man out in the hallway Standing underneath the light Every time I open up the door He says he's there all night He's got a coat without a pocket He's got a hat without a head I asked him if he'd seen the landlord He said, "He's gone to bed" The man in the hall The man in the hall I don't know his name Don't know him at all The man in the hall He's standing there still I shut the door But he never will I went downstairs for a newspaper He was waiting by the stairs I took the lift up to the seventh floor He was already there I asked him where he came from He pointed at the wall I asked him where he was going He said, "Nowhere at all" The man in the hall The man in the hall I don't know his name Don't know him at all The man in the hall He's standing there still I shut the door But he never will I called the local station I told them what I'd seen They sent a man to look around He asked me what I mean I took him to the hallway I pointed to the spot The policeman looked around and said "I see a terrible lot" He's there on Monday He's there on Friday He's there when the lights go out He's there in the morning He's there in the evening I never see him walking about The man in the hall The man in the hall I don't know his name Don't know him at all The man in the hall He's standing there still I shut the door But he never will I moved into a new place Three hundred miles away I unpacked all my boxes And slept until midday I opened up the bedroom door And nearly hit the wall There was my old familiar friend Just standing in the hall The man in the hall The man in the hall I don't know his name Don't know him at all The man in the hall He's standing there still I shut the door But he never will The man in the hall The man in the hall I moved away He's seen it all Standing there Standing there The man in the hall...
