Proverbs 10 The Wise Son

V5.5

A wise son makes his father glad, but a foolish son is his mother’s grief. Stolen wealth never helps, but right living saves from death. YAHWEH will not let the righteous go hungry, but he frustrates the plans of the wicked. Whoever cheats others grows poor, but the diligent hand brings wealth. A wise son gathers in summer, but a shameful son sleeps through harvest. Blessings rest on the head of the righteous, but the wicked hide behind violence. The memory of a righteous person brings blessing, but the name of the wicked will rot away. The wise take in commands, but the lips of a fool end in ruin. Whoever walks straight walks safely, but the one who twists his way will be exposed. Whoever winks an eye causes trouble, and the foolish man’s lips bring ruin. The mouth of a righteous man is a fountain of LIFE, but the wicked mouth hides violence. Hatred stirs up fights, but love covers every wrong. On the lips of one with understanding, wisdom is found, but a rod is for the back of one without understanding. Wise people store up knowledge, but the mouth of a fool invites ruin. A rich man’s wealth is his strong city; the poor are crushed by their lack. The work of the righteous leads to life; the gain of the wicked leads to sin. He is on the path of life who keeps instruction, but he who rejects correction goes off course. Whoever hides hate with lying lips, and whoever spreads slander, is a fool. Too many words bring no shortage of sin, but the one who holds his tongue is wise. The tongue of the just is like fine silver, but the heart of the wicked is worth little. The lips of the righteous feed many, but fools die for lack of wisdom. The blessing of YAHWEH makes rich, and he adds no sorrow to it. To a fool, doing wrong is fun, but a man of understanding has wisdom. What the wicked fears will come on him, but the wish of the righteous will be granted. Like the whirlwind passes, the wicked are gone, but the righteous stand forever. Like vinegar on the teeth and smoke in the eyes, so is the lazy one to those who send him. The fear of YAHWEH adds years to life, but the years of the wicked will be cut short. The hope of the righteous brings joy, but the hope of the wicked will fail. The way of YAHWEH gives strength to the upright, but it destroys the workers of evil. The righteous will never be moved, but the wicked will not live in the land. The mouth of the just brings forth wisdom, but the rebellious tongue will be cut out. The lips of the righteous know what is right, but the mouth of the wicked speaks rebellion. A wise son makes his father glad, but a foolish son is his mother’s grief.
