How you stay straight in a room full of snakes? How you keep it real when surrounded by fakes? When every handshake conceals a knife, And every laugh is just a way to mask a lie. Dap you up—turn your back, they stab you up Tear you down if you take a step or two up. Crabs in a barrel, always ready to drag you down, Love you when you win—lose, they let you drown Better watch how you move in these spaces, All them niggas walk around with two faces. They cool with you doing good—as long as they better You take a step up, they switch like the weather. Become the topic as soon as you leave the room, They start making up shit they can't even prove. Soon as they enter your life—you're on borrowed time You gotta watch them handshakes and hollow smiles [Chorus] Watch what they do and not what they say Keep one eye open—even when you pray Snakes on the grass, watch every step you take They'll prop you up just to watch you break Watch what they do and not what they say Went to school with dude, shared my food with dude Thought I was really cool with dude… Grandma died—and I ain’t even get a text? I thought we were brothers, got each other's back Oh it's like that huh, I guess it's on to the next Whatever man, I wish you the best on your quest Uh, yeah... Man life's been a great teacher these days Yeah, been reading the scripture these days Joseph got betrayed by his own brothers—damn Threw him in an empty well, watched him as he fell It was over for him as far as they could tell, (nope) He rose to prominence, then lead with dominance, Hey maybe all that betrayal was my providence. So I don't hold a grudge, if they hissin' I don't give a fuck, I just wish them all the luck. Gotta learn to mind yours—we're on borrowed time And be wary of all the handshakes and hollow smiles [Chorus] Watch what they do and not what they say Keep one eye open—even when you pray Snakes on the grass, watch every step you take They'll prop you up just to watch you break Watch what they do and not what they say
