Copper Drums ------------------ A phantom walks my garden path In autumn rain, in grief and grey In leaden coat, it makes its way A figure worn by age and wrath It drags its burial shrouds behind All white and cold as death designed He scatters ash on withered beds He beats his copper drums alone He beats his copper drums of bone And darkness answers as it spreads And fear and trembling follow close Into the autumn's weeping woes He freed the spirits from the deep He called the phantoms from their mounds To tear apart the dark with sounds And break apart what death should keep The bones laugh out, the teeth collide As Satan beats his drums inside And everything is swallowed whole In tears that pour from skies above A hopeless weight with nothing of Remaining faith to free the soul He beats his copper drums of bone And darkness answers as it spreads The autumn rain taps on the pane And weeps and sobs and calls my name --- "Copper Drums" Copyright © 2024 Rick n' Stolti.
