An accidental fall from a bridge didn't kill her, but left her with multiple broken bones, torn ligaments, and badly injured internal organs. The doctors said they couldn't save her. An anonymous tech company offered to help, but only after Sian signed a document indemnifying the company of any liability no matter what the outcome of the procedures they would subject her to. Sian was in no shape to argue, and felt lucky she could even move the pen to sign. Sian lost consciousness, reviving two weeks later. She felt strange, but also strong. She felt smart, too. Thoughts shot through her brain with a speed she'd never experienced before, and she understood them all with clinical clarity. Many of her bones and internal organs had been replaced with cybernetic parts. But just as importantly, she'd been injected with nanobots that supplemented her nervous system and brain. She was now a cyborg with superior processing power. Her human brain was directly connected to a nanotech AI collective that served as an extension of herself. Parts of her flesh had been replaced as well, with a flexible metal alloy of a color that blended perfectly with her natural skin. But a couple of things about her definitely stood out. She had a blue cybernetic eye and blue cybernetic arm. Looking in the mirror, she recognized herself, but what she saw felt bizarre. The name Sian didn't work for her anymore. But Cyan did, and it sounded just like her original name. So Cyan Summers she became. Others began referring to her as Cyan Cyborg. She answers to both names. Cyan enjoys exceptional physical strength from her cyborg implants. Her patches of metal skin are stronger than Kevlar. They don't cover her entire body, so it's not like she can just walk through a hail of bullets with no harm. But even if a bullet strikes her, there's a good chance it won't damage her major internal organs, since they're cybernetic and made of tough material too. Since becoming a cyborg, Cyan has met a number of superheroes, many of whom consider her a superhero as well. One such new acquaintance is the superhero known as Hawk Rune the Mage. In working with him, Cyan has discovered her cybernetic nature grants her high resistance to magic. Spells that target her human parts specifically are likely to work as expected, but her cybernetic parts are mostly unaffected. Any spell that targets her without focusing on her humanity are likely to fail or have reduced effect. Because her metal patches of skin look like her normal skin, mages don't always know exactly where to target her with their magic. Cyan has ports and cables by which she can interact directly with computer systems. She also has Wifi and Bluetooth capability, as well as other proprietary and classified built-in remote connectivity schemes, one of which is called Umbra Sir Pride.
