[Verse 1] The memories are sweet Of my childhood Deming home In summer the children would sing all day The farms nearby were green Birds filled the air with song We walked the sidewalks of town Testing courage Learning independence [Pre-Chorus] But as years roll by And things change My little town has to change too And Deming times fade Into a sweet memory A strong pull at my heart each day [Chorus] Let’s enjoy our life now As we enjoyed that special town We bring strength to our new lives We know how blessed the world can be We sing with that sparkle With that sparkle in our eye Sweet Deming in years gone by Sweet Deming in years gone by [Verse 2] They hunt no more For the dove and the deer In the deserts and mountains near We sang in many places together Home porch swing School days Traveling in the car Such joy released Like these times would never end We did not know How precious these moments were [Bridge] Yes Those times with friends and family Are treasured And cannot be taken From our hearts The time has come When the children have to part From a gift from God We never realized [Chorus] Let’s enjoy our life now As we enjoyed that special town We bring strength to our new lives We know how blessed the world can be We sing with that sparkle With that sparkle in our eye Sweet Deming in years gone by Sweet Deming in years gone by [Outro] Oh thank you friends Oh thank you family Oh thank you God Yes thank you God For what we now understand Amen
