With nimble fingers, he learned to capture emotions and experiences in silver threads, preserving what might otherwise be lost to time. Next door lived the Mills family, who became his second home. Edwin the blacksmith taught Tallen metalwork alongside his own son Nolan. Together, the boys built a fort by the creek that became their sanctuary, carving their initials into its wooden beams. *"Two families bound by more than blood / A boy with two homes to his core"* ## The Night Everything Changed When Tallen was fifteen, his mother received warning that the Oblivion Sect had finally found them. With precious little time, Liselle created a special amulet for her son, weaving protective spells within its silver threads that would shield his mind from their memory-erasure magic. *"Then strangers came in darkest night / With magic meant to blind"* Hidden beneath the floorboards, Tallen listened as the Sect questioned his mother. When they performed their spell, Tallen heard only a single scream before silence fell. By morning, she was gone, and the town's memories had been reshaped to erase not just Liselle, but Tallen's place in their lives. ## The Painful Isolation For three months, Tallen lived as a ghost in his hometown. Edwin, who had been like a father, warned him away from their home. Nolan, once his blood-brother, denied their friendship and claimed to have built their fort alone. Mira, who had once brought him sweet rolls, now whispered that he was "creepy." *"The blacksmith taught him how to build / His son became a brother sworn / The fort still stands down by the creek / With both their names in wood still worn"* Desperately, Tallen tried to make them remember—pointing to evidence like their fort, recalling private stories only family would know. But the Sect's magic was too powerful, leaving only momentary flickers of confusion. ## The Arrival of Hope Everything changed when Loxley Threadtale arrived in Meridian's Crossing, following a hidden registry that marked Liselle as an active Threadweaver. For the first time since his mother disappeared, Tallen met someone who understood—someone who remembered the Archive. *"When Loxley came with hope in hand / A registry of those who still remain"* Loxley revealed something Liselle had never known: she wasn't the only survivor. Others had escaped the Archive's destruction. Loxley offered Tallen a new path forward: coming to Tinkertune Town to continue his training and help preserve the Archive's legacy. ## A Bittersweet Farewell As Tallen prepared to leave, he left a memory-cloth on the Mills' doorstep. When Edwin found it, a flicker of almost-recognition crossed his face. With a simple wish for safe travels, Edwin gave Tallen enough kindness to carry forward. Now Tallen journeys to Tinkertune with Loxley, his mother's amulet around his neck, determined to preserve what the Oblivion Sect tried to erase. *"They may have made them all forget / But I remember still"* © 2025 Ande Records Lyrics by Ande All rights reserved. https://ande-records.se/
