Even In The In-Between

[Verse 1] Under humming lights And folding chairs Your name on a clipboard, Unanswered prayers You scroll through your phone Just to pass the time But your eyes keep landing On the EXIT sign You’ve prayed these words Till the papers worn thin “God Are You out there? Will You step in?” Do you see me in the waiting Do you see me in my tears Saying “Any day now” Will you take away my fears [Chorus] Even in the in-between You are held You are seen Even when you can’t Believe You are held, you are seen Every tear upon your face Is a story of His grace Healing’s coming That is sure Here or on Heaven’s shore On the days you feel unseen You are held Even in the in-between [Verse 2] Hallway coffee Lukewarm cup Doctors’ voices Softened up You fake a laugh For a waiting friend But you’re bracing hard For the next “what then” You’ve got your Bible, Worn and frayed Underlined promises That Time won’t fade “By His stripes We are made whole” You whisper it low So it steadies your soul [Chorus] Even in the in-between You are held You are seen Even when you can’t believe You are held, you are seen Every tear upon your face Is a story of His grace Healing’s coming That is sure Here or on Heaven’s shore On the days you feel unseen You are held Even in the in-between [Bridge] He has not forgotten Every breath Every sigh He’s closer in the aching Than the answers you ask why When the miracle feels missing And you’re too worn out to stand He is sitting in the silence still Holding your hand (oh) (Soft lift) He is holding your hand [Chorus] Even in the in-between You are held You are seen Even when you can’t Believe You are held, you are seen Every tear upon your face Is a story of His grace Healing’s promised Count it true Here or when He makes all new When your hope falls in between You are held Even in the in-between
