[verse 1] Well there's just so much city livin' A country boy like me can take I think it's tawm I found myself a change of scene So I'm headed for the mountains To a cabin by the lake Gonna trade these streets of gray for hills of green [bridge 1] Cause the city's gettin' old And the girls are flippin' cold And my soul's in need of fixin' Gonna go and start myself a new tradition [chorus 1] Well I got my sinkers and I got my lures And I got me a thirty-pack of Coors Gonna go and make a change in my condition Cause I'm out of patience and I'm out of luck But I can count on my ol' pick up truck to take me on a fabled expedition Hell, I'm gone fishin' I'm gone fishin' [verse 2] Well when I first met my old lady She was an angel in blue jeans She had a smile that made strong men weak in the knees But now she done picked up a habit Of actin' up and causin' scenes Gotta get myself away and find some peace [bridge 2] So the rods are all racked And the cooler's all packed The alarm clock's set for dawn I'll kiss her now cause in the morning I'll be gone [chorus 2] Well I got my sinkers and I got my lures And I got me a thirty-pack of Coors Gonna go and make a change in my condition Cause I'm out of patience and I'm out of luck And I plumb run out of givin' bucks to the folk that took away all my ambition Hell, I'm gone fishin' (he's gone fishin'!) I'm gone fishin' (he's gone fishin'!) I'm gone fishin' (he's gone fishin'!) I'm gone fishin' (he's gone fishin'!) [slide guitar solo] [verse 3 (sotto)] Nowadays folks with their cell phones Fancy cars and earthly needs It's a greedy generation that's done wrong It's tawm to bust out of the cities And the selfishness they feed And get back to God's green nature Where we belong [Chorus 3 - key change] Well I packed my tackle and I packed my lures And I packed me a thirty-pack of Coors Gonna go and start my self a new tradition Cause I'm out of patience and I'm out of luck But I can count on my ol' pick up truck to take me on a fabled expedition Hell, I'm gone fishin' (he's gone fishin'!) I'm gone fishin' (he's gone fishin'!) [coda] I'm gone fishin' (he's gone fishin'!) I'm gone fishin' (he's gone fishin'!)
