[Verse 1] I missed the bus by a smile Bought a peach from a guy with a cane Found a note in my coat pocket Said, "Meet me by the frozen train" A dog stole a bun from my hand A kid in red yelled, "Run, run, run" Then the clouds split open over us Like somebody forgot the sun [Pre-Chorus] And every little thing went sideways But it felt like a sign I was late to the day, then You turned that loss into mine [Chorus] Fork in the rain Fork in the rain I took the left turn And I found your name Fork in the rain Fork in the rain Funny how a bad day Can turn sweet again [Verse 2] You were leaning by the corner shop With a blue scarf tied to your bag Said you almost went home early Then laughed when the wind pulled back We shared one paper cup of tea From a stall with a cracked glass pane You said, "Life likes to change the plan" I said, "Yeah, but I like your way" [Pre-Chorus] And every little thing went sideways But it felt like a sign I was late to the day, then You turned that loss into mine [Chorus] Fork in the rain Fork in the rain I took the left turn And I found your name Fork in the rain Fork in the rain Funny how a bad day Can turn sweet again [Bridge] Now the forecast says storm again Let it come, let it spin If the road breaks into two roads I know where I’ll begin With your hand in mine And the sky unmade What looked like a wrong turn Was the best mistake [Chorus] Fork in the rain Fork in the rain I took the left turn And I found your name Fork in the rain Fork in the rain Funny how a bad day Can turn sweet again
