Pinky Promise

[Verse 1] A black car coming down the road. Like the day you went away. I just don't understand. I don't want to let you go. So you gave me your pinky promise. And said you would come back home. [Verse 2] I'd ask Momma every day. When's Daddy coming home? He gave me his pinky promise. When will he come back home? [Break 1] Tie a ribbon round the old oak tree, Kissed a letter and sent it back to me. Starin' out my window, watching for a sign, That you'd come back to me. [Verse 3] I'd ask Momma every day. When are you coming home? I believe in your pinky promise. I need you here back home. [Break 2] The ribbon's faded round the old oak tree, All your letters are just a memory. Starin' out my window, still waiting for a sign, That you'll come back to me. [Solo] (Instrumental) [Verse 4] A black car coming down the road. Watch it shine in the sun. Mama standing at the door, In a black dress, oh so proud. A single tear falls down her cheek, and Lips like a red rose in the sun. [Verse 5] She says, “Your Daddy's coming home.” We missed him when he's gone. Hold on to his pinky promise. He's on his way back home. Hold on to his pinky promise. He's on his way back home. [Outro] He's on his way back home. He's on his way back home. He's on his way back home.
