Schrödinger’s Lolcat

*** Schrödinger’s cat is a thought experiment in quantum mechanics. A cat is placed in a sealed box with a radioactive atom, a Geiger counter, poison, and a hammer. If the atom decays, the counter triggers the hammer to break the poison, killing the cat. Quantum theory says the atom is both decayed and not decayed until observed, so the cat is simultaneously alive and dead until the box is opened. This illustrates the weirdness of quantum superposition and the role of measurement. *** [Intro: Cat meow autotuned to quarter-tones, polka bass stuttering, Geiger counter in swing rhythm] “Dis box iz uncertainty floof cube.” ⸻ [Verse 1: accordion in 19-EDO, tuba blasts in minor third-and-a-smidge intervals] Iz I ded or iz I snackin’? Iz that hammer really whackin’? Wavefunction iz not collapsed— I’m just curled in math, perhaps. ⸻ [Pre-Chorus: 31-tone xylophone solo, synth catnip particles flying] I iz in a fuzzy place Superposed and full of grace No one peek! Or fate iz sealed— Quantum floof must stay concealed! ⸻ [Chorus: cat choir chant, glitch trumpet, polka oompah with lasers] Na-na-na! I haz a state! Na-na-na! Don’t speculate! Na-na-na! I iz both things! Box iz throne for quantum kings! ⸻ [Verse 2: hurdy-gurdy solo with bitcrushed purring, drum fills made from scratching sounds] Me iz tied to half-life funk Radio-pawticle in trunk One decay, and boom! I ded? Or iz dat just inside yer head?? ⸻ [Bridge: quarter-tone accordion rave, voice sample stuttering “Ψ = Ψ = Ψ”] Psi-Psi-Psi! Am in box, am not ded yet Observable? You place a bet If you peek, I pick a lane— Before dat, iz no explain ⸻ [Chorus again, with more chaotic call & response cat yowls] Na-na-na! I haz a state! (He haz a state!) Na-na-na! Don’t speculate! (Too late!) Na-na-na! I iz both things! Decoherence makes me singz! ⸻ [Final Verse: modulated in 22-EDO, synth meow solo rising into filter-swept cadenza] Bohr iz cryin’, Einstein frowns Still I napz with quantum crowns I iz floofy paradox Causin’ trauma in yer box ⸻ [Outro: purring turns into ambient wavefunction hum. Fade out to cat heartbeat rhythm in 17-EDO] [soft whisper with reverb the size of the multiverse] “Kitteh iz potential… until observed.”
