Lost Track #3
I thought if I described the wet grass in morning's light The fluttering feathers of an owl taking flight To paint misery as beauty in the night, I'd be lying, covering my flaws from sight. I quit. I left words alone. No longer a disguise. Wishing I could be brave and boldly confide, “Some days I just wish I could die It's not okay, I'm not fine But I will survive, I've survived I'm alive I exist.” Yet, I was a ghost among stars afar Crying out misery in words like scattered shards Voicing despair that couldn't soar so far Breaking silence, echoing as scars Pretending, denying I'm all broken parts A voiceless being with false starts Contained screams and fits Yearning to be dismantled, bit by bit. The truth lies in between. A balance delicately unseen Waving 'tween blades of grass Invisible in the ant's parade march Beneath the moon's gentle arch. Some days I still wish I could die I am the wingless dragonfly And its not okay, I am not fine The rotting roots in a forest of pine But I will survive, I have survived An ashen glow of a star who just arrived I am alive I am a bird in full dive I exist Even darkness can’t bury me in silence.
