Initiation

I was always so scared (of the fire) I was always so intimidated (by the fire inside of me) To be with us you need some steel so they said and made me feel so insignificant and helpless I knew I needed to take action but couldn't find a direction couldn't get my bearings, felt useless where to go i couldn't even guess I was told "work with your fire" feel your magic, get what you desire If you can't do that, you aren't one of us if you can't do that, you'll drift away with the dust But everyone else is so much stronger I thought i couldn't keep up much longer But when you are burned already it doesn't matter if there's one more spark so I went to the sacred space and sat down in the dark And lit the fire (I lit the fire) I sat silent by the fire Let it tell me who I was Didn’t flinch, didn’t run Didn’t ask what it does Ash on my shoulder Smoke in my veins You called me broken I wore that name The smoke stirred in the gentle breeze got in my nose and made me sneeze the warmth spread around me and in the dancing fire I could see My own face reflecting back I was dancing in the sparks I was hopping with the flames revealing all my unknown dreams I turned into the embers, the glow I am the fire here and now and it is so clear to see in the flames i am free You were all talking big but you are such fakes none of you knows a thing (I lit the fire) I sat silent by the fire Let it tell me who I was Didn’t flinch, didn’t run Didn’t ask what it does Ash on my shoulder Smoke in my veins You called me broken I wore that name But the fire told me another name one of many that'll be my own tired of your gatekeeping game I'm a witch of my own renown I sat silent by the fire Let it tell me who I was Didn’t flinch, didn’t run Didn’t ask what it does Ash on my shoulder Smoke in my veins No longer broken You gave me a name
