Our Fairy Folk

[Verse] As I beheld a winter's night The moon clear as day I heard the voice again call out my name A wind that gently stroked my skin It raised me from my bed Out toward the meadow bared and biassed [Pre-Chorus] Mem'ries of a world belonging tales of yesterday Of heights and hidden harvest All the senses knew that place A world that seems so long ago So many things had they to show Like roses bare thorned Aye They've shown us all they know [Chorus] For gone are those days 'tis no longer their ground They've wasted away this land o' heather For ages misled Waddled of bed They're dreamin' away O' sweet fairy folk [Verse] They came from far away It was how they came They took her for his lady And as lovely as could be From skips me old chums Long before begun The buffoon was the brute that killed our brethren [Pre-Chorus] Seek for the sounds of samlen sails Recorded ranter's youthful days Of tragic beauty that once shone Became the Silence in the fall [Chorus] For gone are those days 'tis no longer their ground They've wasted away this land o' heather For ages misled Waddled of bed They're dreamin' away O' sweet fairy folk
