What Freedom Sounds Like

+ Show full styles

The morning came Without a flag No victory songs No body bags We waited for orders They never arrived The screens went quiet And something survived ⸻ We were told we were free Because we could choose Between different colours Of the same old news We marched in circles Called it debate Learned too late What freedom isn’t ⸻ No one shouted No one ruled The lies just stopped And truth stayed cool ⸻ Freedom isn’t noise Freedom isn’t fire It’s not the right to shout Or the thrill of desire Freedom is knowing The ground will hold When the stories end And the truth is told ⸻ We built gods out of talking heads Fed them fear And followed instead Left and right Same broken frame Different accents Same old game ⸻ We confused permission With choice And volume With voice ⸻ Then the systems listened Without reply No slogans No alibi Every outcome traced Every harm revealed Not to punish But to heal ⸻ Freedom isn’t power Held by few It’s the quiet work Of seeing through No masters left No crowd to steer Just shared intent And consequences clear ⸻ The sick were treated Before they fell The hungry fed Without a sell No debt dressed up As moral law No profit hiding In a flaw ⸻ The machine did not replace us It removed the masks It showed us what we chose to do When we thought no one would ask Freedom begins When excuses end ⸻ Freedom isn’t perfect Freedom isn’t clean It’s standing in the light Of what we’ve been No more myths To hide behind No more leaders Borrowed minds ⸻ We didn’t win We didn’t rise We simply stopped Believing lies And that was enough.
