[Intro ] [Verse 1] They drink to the health of the sinner They toast to the ghost of the king Each prayer’s a wager at dinner Each vow’s a political thing [Verse 2] They called me “sweet,” they called me “fair,” A blossom for deceit But roses rot in royal air And perfume fades with heat [Chorus ] Dance, my lords, in velvet lies Bleed your truths in gold disguise Your crowns are cracked, your souls are thin And I see the madness looking in [Verse 3] I watched you stage your mourning play Pretend to weep for me But laughter leaks through mortal clay Your dirge a parody [Verse 4] Tell Hamlet he can keep his wit His riddles, swords, and pride I’ve heard enough of men’s remit — To love, then step aside [Bridge] [Outro] So, drink, my lords, and bless your sins Your kingdom rots within The court still feasts on ghosts and lies And I see the madness in your eyes
