Pete dies in the afternoon. A neighbour. An ambulance. No banner. Night: Nancy’s chest is “a bit off.” We listen like thieves. Not a cliff. A night of counting breaths that are not politics and are the only politics I believe. Ania will have the heater on. Jono will have the receipt. Lynda’s canopy. Gareth’s second mug. I do not send the page. Night: Nancy’s chest is “a bit off.” We listen like thieves. Not a cliff. Tomorrow they will put tables in a gym. Tonight I am a cousin. Night: Nancy’s chest is “a bit off.” We listen like thieves. Not a cliff. If you write this year and skip this listening, you have written a different Bay.
