Disillusionment

+ Show full styles

Crowds are filling up the streets, but I can't feel the rhythm there. Everyone says, "Rise and fight," I'm tired but not too tired not to care. Yeah, I grew up on the front lines, of a world that's stayed the same. So many marches, so much shouting, with no real changes to this game. And I'm worn down (worn down). Not fully burned out. This is disillusionment, heartbreak in a different shade. Want to move a mountain, without joining the parade. I'm searching for a reason, to believe in something new. Disillusionment. What's the next good thing I can do? I was raised on big ideals, but watched the promises collapse. Institutions made of stone, crumbled right into our laps. All the voices I was told, would lift us when we're falling down. Now they're signing financial deals, and I'm feeling like a clown. So I shut down (shut down). Try to breathe out. This is disillusionment, heartbreak in a different shade. Want to move a mountain, without joining the parade. I'm searching for a reason, to believe in something new. Disillusionment. What's the next good thing I can do? But maybe change is smaller, a hand, a home, a neighborhood. Maybe I start over, where hope still lives for good. Maybe quiet acts of kindness, are the sparks I have within. A different kind of uprising, is where I can begin. This is disillusionment, but I'm learning how to stay. Maybe I can build a world, that doesn't break in the same old way. I'm reaching for a reason, something to see me through. Disillusionment. Help me believe in something true.
