[INTRO — STEALTH WESTERN | 4/4 ~98 | DREADNOUGHT | MUTED TELECASTER | BASS] [MALE BARITONE — third-person throughout] [VERSE 1 — OUTSIDE CROWN JUNCTION] A thousand riders made poor cover. Several miles outside the town, Della's vanguard left the roadway And began to settle down. Scouts had seen Crown Junction watching. They knew exactly where they were. So trenches opened. Guns were placed. Horses moved behind the ridge. Sarah looked across the works. “If they come talking, let them talk.” Jack nodded. “And if they don't?” Sarah checked the line. “We're ready.” Silas saddled up. “I'm going in.” [VERSE 2 — THE PROBLEM] Mara looked him up and down. “No.” Silas frowned. “You too?” “You're six kinds of recognizable.” “I'll wear a different hat.” Mara stared at him. “Silas, half of Crown Junction knows that face.” He touched the scars. “Hard to forget.” “They'll spot you at a casual glance.” Silas sighed. “Suggestions?” Mara smiled. “Sit down.” [VERSE 3 — A FEW HOURS LATER | SHAMISEN ENTERS] Powder softened scarred-up edges. Pigment changed the skin beneath. Hair went darker. Brows grew heavier. Lines appeared around his cheeks. A little wax. A little shading. Different beard and different clothes. Silas studied his reflection. “I look terrible.” Mara packed away her brushes. “You look forgettable.” “That's worse.” “It's also why you'll live.” Then Mara buckled on her wayblade. Silas looked at her. “No.” She smiled. “My turn.” [VERSE 4 — TWO GO IN] Sarah heard the plan in silence. Mara finished. Sarah frowned. “You stay with him.” Silas: “I don't need—” Sarah: “I wasn't talking to you.” Mara almost laughed. Sarah knew what Mara could do now. That didn't mean she liked it. “Get in. Find Jamie. Give him the message. Get out.” Mara nodded. “No improvising.” Silas and Mara exchanged a glance. Sarah closed her eyes. “Why did I even say that?” [VERSE 5 — CROWN JUNCTION] [LIGHTER STEALTH GROOVE] They entered with a wagon train Before the afternoon was gone. Nobody stopped them. Nobody stared. Mara's work held on. Silas knew the alleys. Knew the taverns. Knew where Jamie might be found. Three wrong guesses. Then Mara stopped Outside a painted door. Music. Laughter. Women upstairs. Silas sighed. “Of course.” [VERSE 6 — JAMIE] They found Jamie in a bedroom. He stared at Silas. Then stared again. “Silas?” Silas smiled. Jamie pulled his trousers on. “Have you lost your mind?” Silas considered. “Probably.” “There's an army outside!” “Yes.” “Your army?” “Complicated.” “Why are you here?” “I need you to carry a message.” Jamie stared. “To whom?” “Our sister.” [HARD STOP] [VERSE 7 — THE MESSAGE] “Tell her we need a truce.” Jamie laughed. Silas didn't. “I'm serious.” “With Winters?” “With everyone.” Silas gave him the location. “Three days. No army. A deputation only.” Jamie lowered his voice. “And if this is a trap?” Silas: “Then Sarah Winter has already dug enough trenches to disappoint you.” Mara added: “And brought a thousand riders.” Jamie stared at her. “Who are you?” Mara smiled. “Nobody.” Silas: “She's very good at that.” [VERSE 8 — BACK OUT] They left before sundown. Same gate. Same borrowed faces. No alarm behind them. By midnight Sarah saw two riders Coming through the outer line. Silas dismounted. “Well?” Sarah asked. “Message delivered.” “And Jamie?” Silas smiled. “Exactly where I expected.” Mara: “Eventually.” [VERSE 9 — THREE DAYS] [RETURN FULL WESTERN GROOVE] Three days passed behind the earthworks. Scouts watched every eastern road. Rifles cleaned. Horses rested. Nobody unpacked the load. The dead man scratched inside his box. Holly kept him there. Then near noon a lookout shouted. “RIDERS!” Jack climbed the ridge. Sarah followed. Della came behind. Across the open ground, A small procession left the town. No battle line. No charging guns. White cloth riding at the front. Silas joined them on the ridge. Sarah looked at him. “Your sister?” Silas narrowed both his eyes. “Looks like.” [OUTRO] A thousand riders waited hidden. Winter rifles held the line. One dead thing waited in a box To prove the end of humankind. Across the field came Crown Junction— Slowly. Carefully. Silas watched them coming. “Now,” he said, “we find out if they listen.” [CUT] STYLE: STEALTH FRONTIER / OUTLAW COUNTRY, 4/4 ~98.
