GOOD TO GO

[Intro] [TR-808 & Heavy Cowbell Groove] [Spoken Word] Yeah! 1982 style! Steve Washington on the track! D.C. are you ready? Prophet-5, give 'em that heat! (Vocoder: Good to Go!) [Verse 1 - Soulful Singing] I recall quite as mighty nice, walking down the avenue. Keeping it in the pocket, doing what we gotta do. [Verse 2 - Soulful Singing] Stepping in the party, which way did the leader go? Back in town with the fire, putting on a heavy show. [Pre-Chorus - Melodic Harmony] The rhythm’s rising high, touching the summer sky. The city’s moving fast, a feeling built to last. [Chorus - High-Energy Melodic Vocals] We are young, we are dumb, the only bounce is rising up! Changing the rules, setting the pace, Go-Go is here to stay! (Vocoder: Go-Go is here to stay!) [Verse 3 - Soulful Singing] A message from the intersection, where the neon lights glow. We paid our dues in the basement, now the world’s gonna know. [Verse 4 - Soulful Singing] Every brother, every sister, move your body to the beat. Feel the TR-808 vibrating underneath your feet. [Bridge 1 - Spoken Call and Response] [Spoken] Washington D.C., are you with me? (Yeah!) [Spoken] I said, are you Good to Go? (Good to Go!) [Spoken] Say: Go-Go! (Go-Go!) Say: Funk it! (Funk it!) (Vocoder: All the way live!) [Verse 5 - Soulful Singing] Moving through the shadows, ARP 2600 leads the chase. Odyssey is howling, leaving rhythm in its place. [Verse 6 - Soulful Singing] Got the Simmons crashing like a lightning in the dark. LinnDrum steady snapping, trying to ignite the spark. [Pre-Chorus - Melodic Harmony] The rhythm’s rising high, touching the summer sky. [Chorus - High-Energy Melodic Vocals] We are young, we are dumb, the only bounce is rising up! Changing the rules, setting the pace, Go-Go is here to stay! [Verse 7 - Soulful Singing] DX7 ringing like a digital crystal bell. The story of the rhythm is the one we love to tell. [Verse 8 - Soulful Singing] The Fender Jazz is popping, hear the thumb against the string. The frequency is magic, hear the way the circuits sing. [Bridge 2 - Melodic Instrumental] [Solo: Melodic Prophet-5 Lead with Oberheim Brass stabs] [Sophisticated Slap Bass & Heavy Cowbell breakdown] (Vocoder: Melodic vibrations... so smooth...) [Verse 9 - Soulful Singing] Reeling in the feeling, moving down the velvet line. The syncopation’s perfect, and the timing is divine. [Verse 10 - Soulful Singing] Midnight in the District, and the energy is high. We’re writing funky lyrics on the canvas of the sky. [Verse 11 - Soulful Singing] The final countdown’s starting, the vocoder’s in control. (Vocoder: Electrifying your soul!) [Verse 12 - Soulful Singing] Go ahead, go ahead, let the Go-Go take the lead. Trouble Funk is providing everything that you need. [Chorus - Maximum Energy Finale] We are young, we are dumb, the only bounce is rising up! Changing the rules, setting the pace, Go-Go is here to stay! (Vocoder: Good to Go!) [Outro] [Spoken Word] Yeah, D.C.! Steve Washington groove! Keep that cowbell ringing! We out! [Final Slap Bass Flourish] (Vocoder: Good... to... go...) [End]
