Rumors Become History - Corianton and Isabel
CORIANTON & ISABEL When Rumors Become History [Spoken Narration – Do Not Sing] Come closer, my friend. Tonight... I'd like to share one of the most surprising stories preserved in the Nemenhah Sacred Records. It begins with two familiar names... Corianton... and Isabel. Most readers of the Book of Mormon remember Corianton because of Alma's counsel to his son. Over the years, many have concluded that Corianton himself fell into serious sin. But the Nemenhah Sacred Records preserve a different account. They remember Corianton as a faithful missionary. While preaching among the people, he met a woman named Isabel. Her life had taken a difficult path. Many judged her. Many believed she was beyond hope. Corianton did not. He saw a daughter of God. He taught her about Jesus Christ. He taught her about repentance. He taught her about forgiveness. And according to the Nemenhah records... he baptized her. Her life changed. She left her former way behind. She became a devoted follower of the Creator. But not everyone understood what had happened. Rumors began to spread. Stories grew with every telling. Eventually those reports reached Alma the Younger. Corianton was called home. Questions were asked. The Nemenhah account reminds us how easily appearances can become accusations... and how quickly good people can be misunderstood. The story did not end there. Corianton and Isabel continued faithfully. They later built a family together. In time, they journeyed north with the faithful. And according to the Nemenhah Sacred Records, their family line would eventually include one of the greatest prophets remembered in the Book of Mormon... Samuel the Lamanite. Perhaps that is the greatest lesson of all. The Creator sees what people cannot. He sees beyond rumors. Beyond appearances. Beyond yesterday. He sees the heart. [Music Begins] Verse One faithful soul... One searching heart... Grace was there Right from the start. Truth was spoken. Hope was found. Love restored What once broke down. Chorus Mercy writes A better story. Grace can turn Our deepest pain. What the world May never understand... The Creator Can make new again. Bridge Rumors fade... But truth remains. Love can heal The deepest shame. Hand in hand... They walked God's way. Faith grew stronger Day by day. Final Chorus Every life Can start anew. Every heart Can find what's true. The Savior calls... His arms are wide. Mercy always Walks beside. (Soft piano, cedar flute, warm strings, and acoustic guitar gently fade into silence.)
