The stream will be held from 12 noon CST on Friday, April 3, to 12 noon CST the next day. Information about the stream is above. I will be co-hosting the AI Umbrella segment of the event along with Foggy X from 9pm to midnight CST on the Friday night (3am to 6am on the Saturday morning for me in the UK). Dalia Asher was my wife and the mother of our two children. In late 2019, she started complaining about pains in her shoulder, and after being repeatedly turned away by our local clinic and told to take painkillers, she was finally given a biopsy at the hospital that revealed that she had stage-four cancer. It was at first unclear what kind, but it was later diagnosed as thymic adenocarcinoma with enteric differentiation, a cancer so rare that we were told it was the only case in the UK and one of only 50 in the world. The cancer had already spread to Dalia's shoulder and spine, and subsequently spread aggressively around her vital organs as well. Long story short, though doctors did their best to treat Dalia, there was nothing that could be done and within a few months she died in a hospice. She was 41 years old and I was a widow at 29 with two small children, one of them disabled. Covid restrictions of the time meant that I had to be alone in the room with her at the end, having only been allowed to bring in the children to say goodbye to their mother one at a time a few days earlier. Covid travel restrictions meant that Dalia's family did not see her between her diagnosis and her death. They and much of my own family attended her funeral over Zoom. A year later, my view of the world was skewered by a photograph that emerged showing the UK's then Prime Minister Boris Johnson and others blatantly breaking their own Covid rules in the garden at 10 Downing Street on the evening of May 15, 2020. I knew that at that moment I had been alone with Dalia in that hospice room and that she had died in the night a few hours later, early on May 16. Poor Dalia went without so much of the support she should have had at the end of her life, just so we could obey rules that the rule-setters themselves were not honouring. The sense of betrayal has never left me and I have never seen things the same way again. She was a sweet, kind, funny woman who brought a lot of light into my life during a very dark time, as well as a devoted mother to our children - in whose faces and smiles I see her every day. I recall the horrendous state in which Dalia sadly ended her life, but when I think of her, I do not remember her like that. I remember her cute laugh; her sense of humour; her pronunciation of our children's names. I remember her as she was. JP ✨ _____________ Skin and bone Skin and bone Skin and bone Skin and bone So incomplete in The bad dream You were like another Part of me Pain in your shoulder Rainin', behold ya Tears in the car park We felt so old Choked by law in this broken war The stage-four killer in your core Soul a husk, so cold to touch All too much but never enough No more day, mind melts away Your skin and bone and life betrayed But I remember you As you were I'll remember you always As you were... Skin and bone Skin and bone Skin and bone Skin and bone One child at a time In the room Family farewell Over Zoom Treason form Reason torn What the hell had We been living for? I said goodnight, then was on my own Two forty-five, no-one answered the phone... Soul a husk, so cold to touch All too much but never enough No more day, mind melts away Your skin and bone and life betrayed But I remember you As you were I'll remember you always As you were... One last dance together Then goodbye forever...! Soul a husk, so cold to touch All too much but never enough No more day, mind melts away Your skin and bone and life betrayed Soul a husk, so cold to touch All too much but never enough No more day, mind melts away Your skin and bone and life betrayed But I remember you always As you were...! I'll remember you always... As you were... As you were... As you were.
