Sympathy For The Devil
[Intro] They say every story got a hero and a villain... But what if they got it wrong? What if the bad guy was the only one telling the truth? Look... [Verse 1 - Rebel Mindset] Every world got a problem, every planet got stress Too many mouths to feed, too little left Leaders keep talking while the shelves get bare Everybody wants a piece but there's less to share Then a titan stepped up with a plan in his hand While the rest stood around sinking deeper in sand You can hate what he did, you can hate his attack But at least he saw a problem and he answered it back Y'all say he was evil, y'all say he was mad But compared to the chaos, was his vision that bad? While everybody debated and was drawing a line He was making a move, he was taking his time [Break] [Pause Instrumental] [Spoken] "Fine I'll do it myself." [Verse 2 - Rebel Mindset] He wasn't chasing gold, wasn't chasing a crown Could've ruled the whole cosmos but he put it all down After all of the fighting, all the blood and the pain He sat watching the sunrise out in fields and plains That's not the move of a king drunk on power and fame That's a man who believed in the rules of his game You can say he was wrong and I'd hear your case But at least he was willing to look truth in the face [Bridge] Maybe the line between a hero and a villain's paper thin Depends who's telling stories when the history books begin [Break] [Spoken - Ciber] Alright, fair—but we don't trade lives. [Verse 3 - Ciber] The intention was pure but the execution was poor All that power in his core but couldn't find a better cure? Look, I get it—this world takes way more than it gives Punishes the poor and hands of the rewards to the thieves It's a shrinking garden with too many mouths to feed But why vanish life instead of just plantin' more seed? Balance the scales by providing for all those in need All the gems in his gauntlet, but he couldn't find a better outlet? Come on... he was a mad man drunk with power looking for a target. Uh Couple of things to think about here. Not talked about yet His method was random, poor or rich, no matter the class Meaning we lost both the peasants and the cream of the mass That doctor working on a cure for cancer? Snap and he's gone. The genius working on free energy, guess what? Snap, you're gone. Excited for your pregnancy, snap and your baby's never born. Uh I'm just sayin'... The intention was good, the execution was full of delusion The utopia he envisioned was nothing but an illusion. Great men keep the wolves at bay, and when they fade away... Well the villains come out to play, There's nothing saved when half the world is left with pain. [Spoken] "Reality is often disappointing" [Soft Saxophone Outro] [Fade Out]
