The Light is Now Here

[Intro] The Light invited me to meet Him, The Lord I’d spent my life looking for. “Come find Me among My people.” So I went looking for the Lord. [Verse 1] I wondered where His people gathered, In temples, chapels, polished halls? Was He standing behind a pulpit, Or somewhere far beyond those walls? Were His people those who knew the answers, Who knew exactly who was right? Or could the One that I was seeking Be hidden somewhere in plain sight? [Pre-Chorus] “Come find Me among My people…” I didn’t know then what He meant. [Chorus] The Light was already here. When I met Him, His name was Stefan. The kind of man the hurried world Can learn to look right through. No throne, no robe, no congregation, Just a man with somewhere he needed to be. I went looking for the Saviour— And the Light was looking back at me. [Verse 2] I pulled into a store parking lot, Saw a man who seemed in need. He asked if I could spare some money, Just enough to help him leave. He held a necklace in his fingers, A little cross upon a chain. He offered it to me in trade; I never even asked his name. [Pre-Chorus] “Come find Me among My people…” And something in me understood. [Chorus] The Light was already here. When I met Him, His name was Stefan. The kind of man the hurried world Can learn to look right through. No throne, no robe, no congregation, Just a man with somewhere he needed to be. I went looking for the Saviour— And the Light was looking back at me. [Verse 3] I gave that little cross to Brittany, The woman who has taught me how to see. She doesn’t sort the world by status; A person is a person in their need. She taught me something about kindness: Benevolence does not ask who deserves. Every soul already matters; Love notices, and then it serves. [Bridge] Maybe “the least of these” Was never meant to mean “less than.” Maybe meekness has no uniform, No way to tell by looking at a man. Maybe every sacred meeting Doesn’t happen where we kneel. Sometimes compassion clears the veil And shows us what was always real. No one above. No one below. Just another soul We are invited to know. [Verse 4] Then one day we stopped for something, Just a quick meal on our way. There he was, sitting at a table— The man I’d met another day. Brittany noticed him before me. She saw the need; she saw the man. No sermon, no hesitation— She simply loved him where he sat. She bought his meal and sat there smiling, As naturally as kindness breathes. And somewhere in that little restaurant, The words came back again to me: [Final Chorus] The Light is already here. And His name was Stefan. Exactly the kind the hurried world Can learn to walk right by. No throne, no robe, no congregation, No sign announcing, “Look, it’s Me.” I went looking for the Saviour— And found Him in humanity. The Light is already here. In the hungry and the lonely, In the stranger at the table, In the ones we fail to see. I thought that I would go and find Him Somewhere holy, somewhere grand. But when the Light invited me to meet Him— His name was Stefan. [Outro] “Come find Me among My people.” His name was Stefan.
