Sing Me Home Once More

Verse 1 I remember every Saturday night When I was four, maybe five Kinfolk filled our living room Pickups filled the drive Mama tickled that piano Daddy picked those six-string chords Granny slapped them ol’ tin spoons Singing, “Sing me home once more” Verse 2 Didn’t know much ‘bout Heaven then Or the mansions they’d sing about But I knew Granny believed it By the way she’d sing and shout She’d close her eyes and raise her hands Like she could see Heaven’s door Then she’d wink at me a’hollerin’ “Sing me home once more” Chorus Sing me home once more, Lord Sing me home once more Someday I’ll walk those streets of gold As my heavenly reward I’ll hear those old-time songs Just like I heard before So sing me on home Sing me home once more Verse 3 Those Saturday nights are long gone And that old house ain’t the same Mama’s piano has grown silent But I can still hear, “Amazing Grace” Granny’s livin’ in her mansion Bet she’s sittin’ on the porch Slappin’ spoons with the saints Singin’, “Sing me home once more” Chorus Sing me home once more, Lord Sing me home once more Someday I’ll walk those streets of gold As my heavenly reward I’ll hear those old-time songs Just like I heard before So sing me on home Sing me home once more Chorus Sing me home once more, Lord Sing me home once more Someday I’ll walk those streets of gold As my heavenly reward I’ll hear those old-time songs Just like I heard before So sing me on home Sing me home once more Outro Yeah…I’ll hear those old-time songs like before So sing me on home… Oh…sing me home once more… Sing me home once more…sing me home once more…
