[Verse 1] They lean by the door of the coffee shop Crooked handles Silver drops Forgotten names on the plastic tags Little flags of a rainy past [Chorus] Leftover umbrellas Waiting on a sky that’s gone Every color Every story All the storms they walked across Leftover umbrellas Hold the shape of someone’s day I wonder who they sheltered And why they walked away [Verse 2] One’s bent One’s bright One’s barely dry Smells like pavement and tired goodbyes Barista laughs Says “take one Please” I pick the red one Just in case it needs me [Chorus] Leftover umbrellas Waiting on a sky that’s gone Every color Every story All the storms they walked across Leftover umbrellas Hold the shape of someone’s day I wonder who they sheltered And why they walked away [Bridge] Maybe you ran for a train (hey!) Maybe you fell out of love Either way You left a trace Leaning there by the mugs [Chorus] Leftover umbrellas Waiting on a sky that’s gone Every color Every story All the storms they walked across Leftover umbrellas Tiny ghosts of yesterday I take one to the doorway And carry you away
