Christ, the Crimson Worm

V5

Psalm 22, verse 6. But I am a worm, and no man; A reproach of men, and despised by the people. God gave us an example. He wrote it in His Word. You’ll find it’s in Psalm 22; a truth, Christ’s death secured. Christ called Himself a certain worm when on His cross of wood. If we take time to study this, it can be understood. In Hebrew, tola'at is the crimson worm. It’s in the Middle East. Its color is a dark blood red which lasts till it’s deceased. The female worm lives on a tree, She grows her body there. Her shell gets hard, she lays her eggs, the young are in her care. The babies hatch, they feed on her, so they can live and grow. But at the time her life is done, a crimson dye will flow. No wonder Christ said He’s this worm, We live because His death that makes us want to grow in Him and serve Him with each breath. Like the babies stained by their mom, the crimson dye, you’ll see. Our lives will show we look like Christ, the Bible will agree. Unique about this crimson worm, it dies and then turns white. So too, Christ’s blood will cover sin when we come to His light. This was a deed that God had planned, Christ took a lowly form. Foretold a thousand years before, Christ chose to be this worm.
