Tendencies
Teeth in the television glow Static dripping down my throat Everybody sells a soul Just to wear another coat Laughing through a broken grin Velvet rage beneath the skin Mirror says: “adjust the mask” Something else is moving in I catalog the chemicals The little saints, the animals A twitch behind the social eyes Mechanical confessional Shake hands with my tendencies Trade names with my enemies Every habit grows teeth When nobody intervenes Say it slow So the parasites can sing Say it clean While the ceiling starts to spin These tendencies They’re breeding in me Black flowers in the circuitry These tendencies Consume identity I smile while they amputate me Pretty little accident Pretty little self-defense Everybody loves the freak Till the freak gets confident Every room’s a hunting ground Polite decay in perfect sound Tap dance on a fault line While the dopamine goes down I can feel the appetite Growing teeth behind the light Civilized cannibal Dressed immaculate in white Plastic halos melting blue Tiny gods inside my shoes Neon blood and paper lungs Hum a prayer that no one knew I divide into a crowd Every voice becomes too loud And the one that sounds like me Is disappearing into sound Push it down Watch it crawl Feed the sickness Feed them all Cut the signal Kill the saint Paint the nerves Across the stage These tendencies Are engineering me Cold fingers through my memory These tendencies Rewrite reality I dance while they erase me No cure No faith Just instinct in expensive clothes No face No name Just tendencies taking control
