The Sign Was Drawing Near
# **THE SIGN WAS DRAWING NEAR** ### *Waiting for the Coming of the Peacemaker* --- ## **[NARRATION]** *(Gentle piano, Native flute, warm strings.)* Today... our journey reaches a turning point. We close one sacred record... and open another. The voice of Hahgmehni grows quiet... and now... the Book of **Sahnhehmpeht** begins. The story changes. The people change. But the hope... remains the same. For generations... the prophets had spoken of a coming Deliverer. The Peacemaker would come into the world. The promised sign was drawing near. Everyone knew the prophecies. But no one knew exactly... how the final days would unfold. The opening pages do not begin with celebration. They begin with concern. Far to the south... the faithful followers of the Peacemaker are facing growing danger. The prophet Nayfi sends an urgent message. He asks that believing families be welcomed into the land of the Nemenhah... a place where they might find safety and refuge. The request is more than political. It is deeply personal. Nayfi and Hahgmehni are close friends. They have carried the same testimony. They have watched over the Lord's people together... though separated by many miles. Then... something unexpected happens. The messages stop. Silence. No word from the south. No new reports. No news of Nayfi. Hahgmehni waits... hoping another messenger will appear. Wondering if his friend is safe. Wondering whether the promised sign is about to be fulfilled. Imagine living during those days. Knowing the greatest event in history is near... yet waking each morning... still waiting. Still trusting. Still believing. That is where this new book begins. Not with certainty... but with faithful anticipation. As I read these opening chapters... I realized something. Even prophets experience seasons of waiting. They worry about people they love. They wonder what tomorrow will bring. Faith doesn't remove every uncertainty. Faith teaches us how to live... while we wait. The scriptures are filled with people who waited. Israel waited for the Messiah. The Nephites waited for the sign. The disciples waited for the Resurrection. And every generation since... has waited upon the Lord. Waiting has never meant... that God is absent. Sometimes... His greatest work is happening... while everything appears quiet. Looking back over my own life... I've discovered that some of God's greatest answers came after seasons of silence. At the time... I thought Heaven had forgotten. Now... I can see He was preparing my heart... for what was about to come. Perhaps Hahgmehni was learning that very lesson. The covenant had not been forgotten. The promises had not failed. The silence... was only preparing the world... for the arrival of the Peacemaker. And that gives hope to every one of us. Because whatever promise you may still be waiting for... the Lord is still faithful. He has not forgotten you. He is still working... even when the answer has not yet arrived. The sign was drawing near then. And His promises... are drawing near now. --- ## **[SHORT SONG]** **Though I wait... I will believe...** Hope is stronger than what I see. Every promise... every prayer... Lord, I know that You are there. When the silence fills the sky... Still I'll lift my heart on high. Peacemaker... come what may... I'll walk with You each day.
