ᵗʳᵃᶜᵏ ² CLOCKWORK RABBIT (DOWN THE HOLE)

[INTRO ] Tick… tick… tick… Don’t look at the time too long… It blinks back. A shadow in a waistcoat runs through the seams of reality… always late… always running… [VERSE 1 ] I saw him once in the corner of my eye White coat burning through the sky Pocket watch bleeding seconds into dust He said “Hurry now… or you’ll rust…” He never stops, never sleeps, never stays Just tunnels through fractured days A nervous god with trembling hands Dragging time through sinking sands [PRE-CHORUS ] He said the clocks are all lying Time is bending, breaking, dying Follow me if you dare to fall Down where the seconds eat us all [CHORUS ] I’M RUNNING WITH THE WHITE RABBIT DOWN A HOLE THAT CAN’T BE STATIC CLOCKS ARE SHATTERING IN MY HEAD EVERY SECOND TURNS TO RED HE’S TOO FAST, I CAN’T CATCH TIME REALITY’S UNWOUND IN LINE I’M LOST IN HIS ETERNAL FLIGHT FALLING THROUGH THE NIGHT [VERSE 2 ] He’s got ink in his veins, pages for skin Writing futures that never begin Every step he takes splits the ground Making silence the only sound I tried to ask where he’s been going He just smiled like the world was slowing Said “You’re late already, can’t you see? You’re chasing what’s chasing me.” [PRE-CHORUS ] The watch explodes in silver rain Every tick is shaped like pain I can’t tell if I’m awake Or just another time mistake [CHORUS ] I’M RUNNING WITH THE WHITE RABBIT DOWN A HOLE THAT CAN’T BE STATIC CLOCKS ARE SHATTERING IN MY HEAD EVERY SECOND TURNS TO RED HE’S TOO FAST, I CAN’T CATCH TIME REALITY’S UNWOUND IN LINE I’M LOST IN HIS ETERNAL FLIGHT FALLING THROUGH THE NIGHT [BRIDGE ] Tick-tick-tick it breaks apart Time dissolving in my heart He laughs in reverse, the world rewinds I’m not sure if I exist in time “Late… late… always late…” [FINAL CHORUS ] I’M RUNNING WITH THE WHITE RABBIT IN A WORLD THAT CAN’T CONTAIN IT EVERY SECOND SPLITS AND DIES UNDERNEATH THESE EMPTY SKIES HE’S THE DOOR THAT NEVER STAYS THE END OF ALL MY NORMAL DAYS I’M FALLING FAST, I’M LOSING LIGHT IN HIS NEVER-ENDING NIGHT [OUTRO ] Tick… tick… tick… The watch stops… But he doesn’t. And neither do I…
