[intro] [piano at ease] There’s a story to be told, about love and marriage and such. It’s a story that is old, but that doesn’t matter very much. Mr. Dashwood had a son, but his wife died very young, So Mr. Dashwood married twice, he had a loyal second wife -- and three lovely daughters, oh so nice. Norland was their happy home, a charming estate, with one mistake, an entail willed it to his son and heir alone to take. And that was all – and that was it -- no use to shout – the girls were bit – and something must be done --- about it. But after many years of bliss, Mr. Dashwood felt amiss. It was serious and quick - no time to kick-– his days were nixed -– his time was fixed --- my god, he thought, the will – the will -- it wasn’t right, he tried to fight – but too late – too late -- too late -- it sealed his lovely daughters fate. So a death-bed promise, by his son, was made, but never kept, those lovely girls were simply left bereft, --- bereft -- bereft. They lost their father and their home with little hope of love and marriage on their own. Norland was their happy home, a charming estate, with one mistake, an entail willed it to his son and heir alone – ALONE to OWN! And that was all – and that was it -- no use to shout – the girls were bit – and nothing had been done --- about it –- nothing --- had been done. So death-bed promises were made, but never kept, those lovely girls were simply left bereft – bereft – bereft! They lost their father and their home with little hope of love and marriage on their own – their own. [end] But be not sad, it all comes right --- for Jane will never let us down ---- a wedding is the ending we will crown --- yes a wedding is the ending we will crown. So be not sad, for dear Jane will never let us down – yes a wedding is the ending we will crown.
