It used to be quite serene When I wondered past Golders Green On my way home from school Trying to look so very cool These days there’s a different scene On the Streets of Golders Green The place is getting violent and mean Meaner than it’s ever been It’s not what people know That screws them up It’s what they think they know That just isn’t so Down at their very core People are not 100 percent sure Faith is just a cheap trick And education is needed real quick If you think stabbing someone Is the right thing to do Just because they think different to you Or they happen to be a Jew Then something has gone Very wrong in your head You’ve been badly misled And people are going to end up dead Your brain has been taken over It sure ain’t kosher Your wiring's gotten wet And desperately needs a reset It’s not what people know That screws them up It’s what they think they know That just isn’t so Treat the mind with care It does not need mantras and prayer It needs to be nurtured and cherished Kept clean, kind and nourished Hatred is rarely the answer It is more of a cancer Root it out. Act with discretion Think for yourself... and question It’s not what people know That screws them up It’s what they think they know That just isn’t so
