# POTHOLE II — THE RETURN ## “Not Back at the Beginning” ### Duet — Under 3 Minutes [Intro — Voice A] No... I know this place. [Voice B] You've seen these walls before. [Voice A] I thought I'd left them behind. [Verse 1 — Voice A] I walked beneath the daylight, I thought the worst had passed, Then somewhere without warning I found myself falling back. [Voice B] But this time you felt it coming, The sleepless nights, the strain, The little ways you disappeared Before you fell again. [Pre-Chorus — Alternating] [Voice A] So I'm back where I started? [Voice B] No, look at what you know. [Voice A] But I'm inside the same hole. [Voice B] You're not the same soul. [Chorus — Duet] [Voice A] I've been here before, I know this dark. [Voice B] You know there is a way Beyond where you are. [Voice A] I climbed so far, How did I fall? [Voice B] A fall doesn't erase The distance you've walked. [Both] We're not back at the beginning, We're beginning again. [Verse 2 — Voice A] Maybe there were warning signs I never learned to see, The nights I couldn't sleep at all, The days I ceased to be me. [Voice B] Now you're seeing patterns, The footprints near the edge. Every sign you recognize Can help you find your step. [Bridge — Call & Response] [Voice A] I fell again. [Voice B] But now you know. [Voice A] I lost my way. [Voice B] But not your road. [Voice A] What if I fall again? [Voice B] We'll see the signs. [Voice A] What if I forget? [Voice B] I'll help remind. [Final Chorus — Duet] [Voice A] I've been here before— [Voice B] But you're seeing more. [Voice A] The darkness feels the same— [Voice B] But you know its name. [Both] Every fall can teach us What we couldn't see back then. We're not back at the beginning— We're beginning again. [Outro — Voice A] I've been here before. [Voice B] And you've climbed before. [Both] We'll walk and grow together.
