Quiet Enough
I put my hand Over my mouth Not to hide Just to quiet the sound All these thoughts Running through I let them pass I don’t push through I close my eyes I sit in the dark I feel my life Move through my heart Every face Every year All the love Still living here I don’t know What I believe I don’t need To make it mean I’ve had faith I’ve let it go I’ve stood inside What I don’t know And it’s quiet now Quiet enough Not full of answers Not full of love Just something real Just something true Just me sitting here Feeling it through I feel the weight Of where I’ve been The life I’ve lived Under my skin The ones I’ve loved The ones I’ve lost The lines we cross The cost, the cost And I’m so tired Of reaching out For something more To figure out So if it breaks Then let it fall I don’t have strength To hold it all And maybe this Is where I land Empty heart Open hands No belief To hold me tight Just breath moving In and out tonight And when I cry I feel it move Like something breaks And lets me through No words for it No name to give Just something in me That wants to live I don’t call it Anything now Not God, not truth Not why, not how Just something felt When I release A kind of ache A kind of peace And I don’t know What comes next Or how this life Will rearrange But here I am In what is left A quiet kind Of honest space And it’s enough Or maybe not But it’s what’s here It’s what I’ve got No need to fix No need to prove I sit in stillness And let it move
