A Voice Actor Lyrics by Ton Smith [Verse] She was like the girls in those animes, Picture perfect smile, brown eyes in a soft-focus frame, I was thinking forever, yeah, that's what they say, When your heart moves too fast for your brain [Pre-Chorus ] I didn't see it coming, She pulled my heart in different directions, Like a movie with separate endings, But the girl wasn't Who I thought she'd be. [Chorus ] It's like dating a voice actor Playing someone you thought they were. Every word sounded so perfect, 'til I started fallin' for her? Maybe the fantasy sounded better than the truth, And reality hurts when it finally breaks through. I wasn't dating her I was dating a voice actor. [Verse] Then I started noticing the things I couldn't see, The little contradictions hiding underneath. Every promise started feeling like a fantasy, Couldn't tell what was real and what was make believe. [Pre-Chorus] I was so convinced, Her Every lie made perfect sense, I kept holding on to the girl I thought I knew, While the real one was slowly coming through. [Chorus] It's like dating a voice actor, Playing someone you thought they were. Every word sounded so perfect, 'til I started fallin' for her? Maybe the fantasy sounded better than the truth, And reality hurts when it finally breaks through. I wasn't dating her I was dating a voice actor. [Bridge] Drop the curtain, kill the lights, No more scripts, no rehearsed replies, You know love ain't lines you memorize. Don't wanna hear another take, Don't wanna watch another promise break. If this was all just make-believe, Why does it feel so real to me? Was it real? (Was it real?) Was it love? (Was it love?) Was I just another character you played up? One more line! One more scene! One more lie in a perfect dream [Chorus] Should've known it from the start, Her script broke more than just my heart. She sounded so perfect, every line, I realized neither one was ever mine 'Cause she sounded better than the truth, Now I'm left with the credits rolling on cue, I wasn't dating her I was dating a voice actor.
